Construction Begins at Wilshire Park

St. Anthony-New Brighton School District held a special election on September 7, 2017, and voters approved a ballot question to expand Wilshire Park Elementary School.  A groundbreaking was held on Monday, October 30 on the west side of Wilshire Park Elementary School and construction began the week of November 20, 2017.  The addition includes classrooms, gymnasium, expanded cafeteria, bathrooms, larger media center, and a secured entrance at Wilshire Park Elementary School.  Images of the addition that will be constructed on the west side (left) and east side (right ) of Wilshire Park are pictured below.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wilshire Park Construction Updates
Week of November 20, 2017:  The contractor started the process of turning the soil and removing the storm drainage on the west side of Wilshire Park Elementary School.  The west side of the building has been excavated and prepared for the installation of a temporary sidewalk.

Week of November 27, 2017:  The contractor finished preliminary site excavation and completed installation of a temporary sidewalk which allows students to enter the building on the west side of the building which is not impacted by construction.  Sand was added northwest of the building and digging and framing has been completed for most of the footings.

Week of December 4, 2017:   Seven cement trucks were used to pour the external footings and several internal footings.  Contractor has begun to install concrete block.

Projected Resident Enrollment at Wilshire Park Elementary School
Resident student enrollment continues to increase in St. Anthony-New Brighton School District.  In the 2025-2026 school year, Wilshire Park is projected to serve between 796-963 resident students and additional learning spaces are needed to accommodate our resident learners.  In the 2017-18 school year, Wilshire Park is serving 708 students and 96% are residents of St. Anthony-New Brighton School District. 

Residents of St. Anthony-New Brighton School District approved a bond referendum on September 7, 2017 to construct additional classrooms, gymnasium, expanded cafeteria, bathrooms, larger media center, and a secured entrance at Wilshire Park Elementary School.  Click here to view the results of the Special Election.
