SAMS staff and studentsWater Warrior!
Ginny Kagol teachers humanities at St. Anthony Middle School in MN. For the past 2 years, Ginny and her middle schoolers have partnered with H2O for Life to study the water crisis while taking action to bring water, sanitation and hygiene education to schools around the world. Why this focus? "We feel we found something that fits with the International Baccalaureate program and fits with what we're try to do in our humanities department," said Ginny Kagol, sixth grade humanities teacher. "Most important is that [students] have an awareness of their responsibility to the rest of the world," she said. "We need to look outside of St. Anthony, outside of Minnesota. We need to see the entire world." Last year, Ginny and her school held a dodge ball tournament, hosted a silent auction, sold re-usable water bottles and had students "Walk for Water". Their efforts have supported 4 school WASH projects in the past few years. Ginny also is the "volunteer coordinator" for our upcoming Water Ball! Congratulations Ginny! You are this week's WATER WARRIOR! Thanks for all you do.
