Dr. Zakrajsek Selected as Interim Superintendent
At its meeting on August 30, 2011, the School Board approved a contract for Dr. Barbra Zakrajsek, who will serve as interim superintendent of St. Anthony-New Brighton School District for the 2011-2012 school year. Dr. Zakrajsek, of Milaca, retired from Milaca Public Schools in 2009 where she served as superintendent for nine years. Dr. Zakrajsek, who has twenty years of experience as a superintendent, researched the school district, and was interested in the interim position. “I think you have a lot of things going right in this district,” said Dr. Zakrajsek. “It was really clear in the interview how good the team is here,” Dr. Zakrajsek commented, “I really want to provide support for the district and build on and support the good things that are happening.” Prior to Milaca, Dr. Zakrajsek served as superintendent for Proctor Public Schools for eight years and Blackduck Schools for three years; she also served as a curriculum director, high school principal, assistant principal, and a vocal music teacher. The Board will begin a formal search for a superintendent in the next few months to replace Dr. Rod Thompson, who was hired as superintendent of Shakopee Public Schools where he began on August 1.
