Absences/Illness

To Sick For School?

Parents and students often have questions about when it is appropriate to stay home from school because of illness. The following guidelines will help with your decision. Your child should stay home (and will be sent home from school) if they have or have had:

• a temperature of 100.00 degrees or higher in the past 24 hours
• vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
• an uncontrolled cough
• strep throat and has been on an antibiotic for less than 24 hours
• an undiagnosed skin rash
• untreated head lice

If your child feels too ill to remain in class and benefit from attending school or there is risk to other students from being exposed to your child’s illness, they should also not be in school

If your child will be absent for the day due to illness, please call Angie Woods in the Attendance Office at 612-706-1108.

Please notify the Health Office if your child has a contagious condition such as strep throat, chicken pox or pink eye.
